Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have brought North America to the Nicolas Cage film The Surfer, which received a six-minute standing ovation at Cannes following its midnight premiere. A theatrical release is planned for 2025.
In the film directed by Lorcan Finnegran, a man returns to the idyllic beach of his youth to surf with his son, only to be humiliated by a group of powerful locals and drawn into a conflict that flares up in the brutal summer heat and pushes him to his limits. Julian McMahon, Nic Cassim, Miranda Tapsell, Alexander Bertrand, Justin Rosniak, Rahel Romahn, Finn Little and Charlotte Maggi also star in the film, which was written by Thomas Martin.
