It’s hard to make people laugh at the thought of committing suicide. For Nikki Glaser, the suicide jokes may be her funniest yet — for anyone but her mother, that is.

“The joke in the special about my mother saying, ‘People don’t want to hear you talk about blowing your head off,’ is a true story,” Glaser tells Variety for Making A Scene, presented by HBO, recalling the conversation the two had while preparing material for her latest Emmy-nominated special, aptly titled “Someday You’ll Die.”
“My mother's biggest concern is not that her daughter will commit suicide, but that she will offend the public by [talking about] suicide,” she says.
For most, that would be a sad statement. For a comedian like Glaser, it's a laugh. "That was always so funny to me."
