BROKEN HEARTS: AM ISRAEL CHAI – In Memoriam: Memories of October 7 – A film by Jeffery B. Giesener
EXCLUSIVE: Immediately after October 7, Oscar nominee Dror Moreh and producer Uri Shinar began work on a documentary that would show how ordinary Israelis were transformed into “a collage of heroes” in the space of just a few hours.
On the anniversary of that fateful day, Deadline was able to unveil Even the Walls Cry, a film made almost entirely by volunteers and supported by Fremantle, which will go on sale at MIPCOM Cannes next month.
October 7 was one of the deadliest days of fighting ever in Israel, with some 1,200 dead after Hamas launched its attack and 250 hostages taken – many of whom have died in captivity or have not yet been released. On October 9, Shinar “asked myself where I should be” and went to a headquarters for the hostages’ families set up by some friends.
