Marcos ditched his usual bulletproof SUV ride and opted to ride on the back of a military truck to reach the flood-hit cities of Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon. He wanted to provide emergency aid to the affected communities and ensure that rescue and relief efforts are a government priority.
Snapshots of the President aboard the military truck wading through the flooded streets of Metro Manila distributing relief supplies have been shared on the Facebook page of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO). The capital is in a state of calamity following the onslaught of the Carina-enhanced monsoon.
“Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is a member of Barangay Malanday Evacuation Center in Valenzuela City and lives in Bagyong Carina. Pinangunahan din ni PBBM ang pamamahagi ng support pamahalaan sa mga nasalanta,” the PCO said in a Facebook post.
