Health Minister Teodoro Herbosa said Friday that many options are available to solve the shortage of nurses in public hospitals, despite legal restrictions.

Herbosa said in a statement that the commissioners of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board of Nursing stand ready to assist the Department of Health (DOH) in finding solutions.
“There are still many options despite the legal limitations that I understand,” he said. “But it’s good to know that they have my back in finding solutions to the 4,500 unfilled nursing supplies in DOH hospitals.”
He added that the Nursing Council has made suggestions on how to solve the problem of emigration of Filipino nurses.
