Josh Hartnett received some "unhelpful" advice from his co-star Matt Damon while filming Oppenheimer.
Josh Hartnett gets some unforgettably funny advice from Matt Damon 😅 #JoshHartnett #shorts
During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Hartnett spoke about his role as nuclear physicist Ernest Lawrence in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. Hartnett gained more than two dozen pounds to play the role. Hartnett may not have gained the extra pounds for Oppenheimer if he had spoken to Damon earlier.
"He [Damon] gave me a lot of good advice. One in particular — one thing that just wasn't helpful: He said don't gain any more weight than I already had for the role," Hartnett told Fallon. "I gained about 30 pounds for the role, and he was like, 'You'll never get that off, man.'"
Hartnett broke Damon's rule of thumb for acting: don't arrive past 40.
