Despite working in Hollywood for decades, Pamela Anderson has never been offered a solid role like Shelley, the lead character in "The Last Showgirl," a struggling dancer on the verge of losing her only job ever because of her age and changing tastes among Las Vegas tourists.

“I underestimated myself,” Anderson said during an interview at the Variety Toronto Film Festival Studio. “And it just came at the right time. Everything just came at the right time.”
The timing was right for Anderson, who had a career-changing year in 2023, as her public image as a sex symbol morphed into something multidimensional thanks to Ryan White's Emmy-nominated 2023 documentary "Pamela, A Love Story" and her best-selling memoir "Love Pamela."
"The stars are really aligned," Anderson added. "And now it feels really surreal, like I'm going to wake up and this isn't really happening, and I'm really pissed off because I feel so blessed and lucky that I get this opportunity to have this life that I thought I could have a long time ago, and things get interrupted, life gets interrupted."
