Park Chan-wook is officially ready to step behind the camera again, with production on his next film set to begin this weekend.
Quentin chooses his perfect movies
According to a new report from THR, Parks' next film — I Can't Help It — is set to begin production on Saturday. The film will be his 12th feature film and his last since 2022's Decision to Leave. It will also be Park's next project since co-directing the HBO miniseries The Sympathizer, which recently wrapped and starred Robert Downey Jr.
Based on the 1996 Donald Westlake novel The Axe, I Can't Help It follows the story of a man named Man-soo who is fired from his job. In a desperate attempt, the man begins hunting down his competitors, planning to kill them in an attempt to regain his status.
The film will star legendary Korean actors Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin, and will be set in Korea. The film has no release information yet, but the project is a highly anticipated one for Park. In 2009, the director announced that he would adapt the film, although other projects kept getting in the way.
