Passenger | Coming soon to ITV1 and ITVX | ITV
BritBox International has scheduled Thursday, October 17 for the streaming premiere of ITV's mystery thriller series Passenger, starring Wunmi Mosaku. The first two episodes of the six-episode first season will hit the platform at 9pm ET on October 17, followed by two episodes each Thursday through the finale on October 31. The first episode will also screen at New York Comic Con on October 17, followed by a panel with the cast and creator.
Written by debuting screenwriter Andrew Buchan, best known for his roles in Broadchurch, The Honourable Woman and Better, Passenger explores a tight-knit community unwilling to face their fears of change, outsiders and the unknown. Set in the fictional northern town of Chadder Vale, former Met Police Detective Riya Ajunwa (Mosaku) investigates a series of strange and inexplicable crimes that have the townspeople spinning on a axis. Riya arrived in the run-down Chadder Vale five years ago and has been searching for the ‘one big crime’ ever since, the challenge that will make her feel alive again.
Then one night, local girl Katie Wells (Rowan Robinson) mysteriously disappears. The town barely has time to register her absence before she reappears the next day, seemingly safe and sound. The townspeople ask few questions and life returns to normal. But for Riya, a relative outsider to the Chadder Vale lifestyle, none of this feels right. As a series of strange events and increasingly shocking crimes unfold in the town, the locals resort to short-sighted theories, blaming outside influences such as the fracking site and its manager Jim Bracknell (David Threlfall). As things get stranger, the townspeople rebel against Riya’s absurd idea that something is wrong with this town. But what are they so afraid of?
