One lucky cinephile will soon get the chance to work with Paul Schrader on his next film.
Paul Schrader's Storytelling Advice
The Oscar-nominated writer and director is casting a wide net for his new assistant, sharing a fairly candid post on Facebook on Thursday for what he describes as a "s— and ice" job as he prepares to begin pre-production on a film in New York City.
“I need an assistant. This is an entry-level position,” Schrader began in the post. “In less polite terms, it’s an ‘s— and ice’ job. There will be days when you’re willing to pay me. Then there are the easy tasks. I’m hoping to be in pre-production in December, and filming in late January. At that point, the work would be on set and on-call 24/7. The job would start upon acceptance. It may involve some travel. Applicant must have a college degree and knowledge of film history. Applicant must live in the New York area. Computer skills are essential. If you can lug film cans (remember those?) you’re good to go.”
He asked potential candidates to send their resumes to [email protected].
