The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has started clearing oil from the vessel MV Mirola 1, which ran aground in Mariveles, Bataan.
PCG commences oil recovery operations from MV Mirola 1
In a situation update on Thursday (August 1), the PCG said oil is being manually removed from the vessel by PCG personnel.
Most of the oil is 'sludge oil', or the combined oil from machinery, motor oil and diesel.
“PCG personnel put the oil into large drums to be sent to a waste treatment facility to ensure that the collected oil will not have any harmful effects,” the report said.
