The Buffalo Bills' win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday night (December 23) aired exclusively on Peacock, a first for the NBCUniversal-owned SVOD, which will also exclusively stream a Wild Card playoff game on January 13.
The ratings for the Bills-Chargers clash, unsurprisingly, surpassed previous NFL ratings on Peacock, averaging 7.2 million viewers and drawing nearly 10 million total viewers, according to an NBC press release. Sports Media Watch reports that about 1.1 million of those viewers came from simulcasts on local NBC stations in Buffalo and Los Angeles, bringing the streaming audience to about 6.1 million.
Just two weeks earlier, NBC Sports had achieved the “largest streaming audience ever for an NFL regular-season Sunday game,” according to another press release, averaging just 2.3 million viewers during the Week 14 game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.
