Steph Curry left Paris with an Olympic gold medal — and an upcoming comedy on Peacock to boot. The streamer is using this month’s Olympic momentum to launch new and returning series in the coming weeks, and shows like Curry’s “Mr. Throwback” have already benefited from that lift.
“Mr. Throwback” debuted on Aug. 8, just as Curry was helping lead the U.S. basketball team to a first-place finish (which defeated France in the men’s Olympic final). According to the streamer, about 77% of “Mr. Throwback” viewers had watched Olympic basketball games — presumably influenced by the show’s promos that aired during the games.
