Boardwalk Empire veteran Stephen Graham has officially signed on to join the Peaky Blinders film cast for Netflix's highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed crime drama series. Production on the project is currently underway.
Stephen Graham reveals if he's returning for Netflix's Peaky Blinders movie
During the sixth and final season of the BBC series, Graham played the recurring role of Hayden Stagg, who was introduced as a union leader who stole opium from the titular gang. It is currently unclear whether Graham will reprise the role in the upcoming film or if he will be playing a new character.
The Peaky Blinders film will be led by Oscar winner Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby, who will be joined by a number of new cast members. These include Rebecca Ferguson (Dune), Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) and Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs). The film, set in World War II and described as an epic sequel to the multi-award-winning gangster saga, is directed by Tom Harper and written by Steven Knight. In addition to Murphy, it is not yet known whether any of the original series' key cast members will return for the film.
The Peaky Blinders film will be produced by Knight, Murphy, Patrick Holland and Guy Heeley. It will be executive produced by Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Caryn Mandabach and Andrew Warren. It is a production between Netflix and BBC Film. In December 2023, it was reported that Netflix was developing two Peaky Blinders spin-offs, the first of which would be set in the mid-20th century and the other would focus on the origins of Helen McCrory's Polly Gray.
