Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. on Saturday condemned the “dangerous and provocative actions” of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) in harassing a Philippine aircraft conducting patrols over Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal).

“On August 8, 2024, a Philippine Air Force (PAF) NC-212i aircraft was conducting a routine maritime patrol over Bajo de Masinloc when two PLAAF aircraft executed a dangerous maneuver and dropped flares in the path of our NC-212i at around 9 a.m.,” he said in a statement.
About an hour later, the NC-212i returned safely to Clark Air Base in Pampanga with no injuries, Brawner said.
The AFP did not specify the type or designation of the PLAAF aircraft.
