Pharrell Williams is grateful that someone took a risk with his unconventional style of storytelling.

During a recent screening of his new animated documentary Piece by Piece, the 13-time Grammy winner thanked Jill Wilfert, Lego's head of global entertainment, for agreeing to collaborate on the film.
"I don't want to put too fine a point on it, but she said yes to the story of a black man, from a marginalized community. When I was young, that was my origin story," Williams said, according to The Independent.
Over the past decade, the 75-year-old toy company has expanded into animated films, with The Lego Movie (2014), The Lego Batman Movie (2017), The Lego Ninjago Movie (2017) and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019).
