VATICAN CITY, Aug 7 (Reuters) – Pope Francis' weekly general audience at the Vatican was briefly interrupted on Wednesday by two women from an animal rights group who shouted and held signs against bullfighting.

The women walked down an aisle in the Vatican's Paul VI Hall, carrying signs and wearing white T-shirts with slogans such as “Bullfighting is a sin” and “Stop blessing corridas,” the Spanish term for the controversial spectacle.
They were quickly removed from the site by security officials.
Francis held his first general audience on Wednesday after a month-long summer vacation in July, during which he prepares for a busy period of travel and major debates over the future of the Catholic Church.
