Eduardo Dela Cruz, a strong patriot, is depicted as a war veteran who was captured and imprisoned. He is the half-brother of Adelina Dela Cruz, who dreams of becoming a vaudeville star, and her half-sister, Teresita Borromeo. The three characters also have a tense relationship with Teresita's mother, Carmela Borromeo.
