Senator Raffy Tulfo is set to file a bill to abolish the travel tax for Filipino passengers flying economy class.

Tulfo, chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Service, said the bill repeals Presidential Decree 1183 of 1977, which was the basis for the travel tax.
The senator recalled that “Article III, Section 6 of the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines recognizes the right of the Filipino people to travel.”
Tulfo regrets that the imposition of the travel tax is a violation of their constitutional right to travel, as they have to save money to travel on a limited budget.
