Senator Raffy Tulfo on Wednesday (August 7) filed a bill calling for tougher penalties for bomb pranks.
PROBLEMADONG BRITISH, NABUHAYAN SA PAYO NI IDOL!
The senator pointed out that Presidential Decree (PD) No. 1727, also known as the Bomb Law, was passed in 1980 and is no longer current.
Tulfo, chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Service, explained that under Senate Bill 2768, the maximum penalty will be set at 5 million pesos, a five-year prison sentence, or both if the offense occurs in areas with high population density or in sensitive areas.
The lawmaker noted that the Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded a total of six hoax bomb threats at train stations and 11 cases of bomb pranks at airports between 2023 and 2024.
