Raygun breaks silence after negative reactions to Olympic breakdancing: 'Please stop'
Australian breakdancer Rachael Gunn, better known as Raygun, is speaking out against the harassment she has faced since going viral at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her unconventional dance moves while competing against USA’s Logan Edra, Lithuania’s Dominika Banevič and France’s Sya Dembélé attracted worldwide attention, leading to accusations that Raygun manipulated Australia’s Olympic selection process.
"I want to start by saying thank you to all the people who have supported me," Raygun said in a video message on her Instagram page. "I really appreciate the positivity and I'm glad I could bring some joy into your life. I was hoping to. I didn't expect it to also open the door to so much hate, which has honestly been pretty devastating."
"When I went there, I had fun. I took it very seriously," she continued. "I worked really hard for the Olympics. I really gave it my all. I feel honoured to have been part of the Australian Olympic team and to have been part of breaking's Olympic debut."
