House of Representatives Vice Speaker and Quezon Rep. David Suarez urged the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to explore off-cockpit and in-cockpit betting as a potential source of revenue for the government and curb the spread of illegal online sabong.

“One thing we have to accept is, first of all, that it happens. But the problem is that the government is not making money because they are operating illegally,” Suarez said during Tuesday’s budget discussion.
PCSO Chairman Felix Reyes said there is currently no law requiring a specific agency to regulate online gambling.
“Is it Pagcor (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation)? Kasi kung online is it really Pagcor o ang PCSO? It could be that mayroon kaming has a chance to entertain when it comes to mayroon kaming lotto,” Reyes said.
