“Anyone who tramples on these precious wonders of nature will be punished to the full extent of the law,” the secretary said.
The secretary said the interdepartmental committee led by the Justice Department is now investigating the government officials who approved the seaworthiness of the vessels despite the warning signs.
Oil spills resulted from the sinking of the MT Terranova and the MTKR Jason Bradley off the waters of Limay on July 25 and in Mariveles on July 27.
