According to multiple sources with direct knowledge, Williams will make a surprise appearance at an intimate post-screening party at Toronto's Shangri-La Hotel. He is expected to sing "Forbidden Road," an original song from the film that is among the Oscar submissions.
Williams, an English singer and songwriter, first rose to fame as a member of the pop group Take That from 1990 to 1995. He began his solo career in 1996 and achieved success with hits such as "Angels".
The film had its world premiere over Labor Day weekend at the Telluride Film Festival, where Variety's chief film critic Peter Debruge praised the technical achievements, writing: "… the musical maestro adds ludicrously complicated technical challenges to his resume — like the stunning 'Rock DJ' number performed on London's bustling Regent Street, shot over four days and stitched together to look like one continuous take, or the 'Come Undone' sequence in which he tears away from the boy band's breakup, nearly crashes into an oncoming bus and plummets into a sea of paparazzi."
