Universal Pictures is reportedly developing a project based on The Hider, a short story by acclaimed American author Julianna Baggott. Robert Downey Jr., who previously worked with the studio on Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer (2023), is in talks to star in the production.

Following the huge success of their previous collaboration, Oppenheimer, Downey Jr. and Universal Pictures may team up again for a film adaptation of The Hider.
According to Deadline, the Avengers: Endgame star is being eyed for the film, with the studio tapping Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari to develop a script from Baggott's short story.
In Oppenheimer, Downey Jr. played the role of Rear Admiral Lewis Strauss, who serves as a major antagonist in the film. The MCU star won multiple accolades for his performance, including an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor at the 96th Academy Awards. The film was nominated for a total of 13 awards that night, winning seven, including Best Picture and Best Director for Nolan. Additionally, Cillian Murphy won Best Actor for his portrayal of the title role. The film also holds a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed approximately $976 million at the worldwide box office against a production budget of $100 million.
