Robert Englund and Heather Langenkamp look back on 40 years of A Nightmare on Elm Street
"Can your nightmares be fatal? In this classic horror film that launched a franchise, a horribly scarred man murdered by a lynch mob returns years later in the terrifying nightmares of his killer's teenage children… and the dreaming teens begin dying in their sleep," the synopsis reads.
Tyler Treese: Heather, Nancy really made you the Scream Queen, and you're such a big part of kicking off this film that spawned so many sequels and changed the face of horror forever. So 40 years later, how does it feel to have really left your mark on an entire genre and be a part of this pivotal film?
Heather Langenkamp: Well, there was a point in the last 40 years where I really had to sit up and take responsibility for being this character. I mean, she's so important to so many people, and I couldn't just dismiss it as a previous role that happened to be in a popular movie. I mean, she's so important to me. She's so important to people. To her, just all the qualities that she brings to the movies. I feel like the luckiest woman in the world now, because when I look back over 40 years, very few people ever get a chance to play a role that really has such an impact on our culture.
