Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said the House of Representatives will explore the possibility of increasing government benefits for Olympic medalists, including granting them monthly pensions for the pride and honor they brought to the country.

“If Carlos Yulo, Hidilyn Diaz appeals to the Olympians to ban at the sambayanang Pilipino and Hindi na his masusuklian, he can give the kilalans and kanilangen the pamamagitante pagbibigay ng benepisyo mula sa pamahalaan,” Romualdez said.

“This could mean a lifelong pension if Philippine Olympic gold, silver and bronze medalists are considered a ban. It is possible to go into sports for 40 years,” he added.

Romualdez said the “recognition doesn't stop when they win medals, it will last for the rest of their lives.”
