President Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said Friday that Congress fully supports the initiative of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to protect the rights and welfare of Filipino seafarers and promote the growth of the local maritime sector.

“Under the leadership of President Marcos, we are committed to creating an enabling environment that promotes the well-being of seafarers, supports the growth of the maritime industry and promotes sustainable practices,” said Romualdez.
Romualdez was the guest of honor at the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) Seafarers' Expo at the CCP Complex in Pasay City. He was accompanied by Department of Migrant Worker (DMW) Secretary Susan Ople and House Deputy Speaker Raymond Democrito Mendoza.
“One of the important milestones we want to achieve during the term of Pres. Marcos is the enactment of the Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers,” Romualdez added.
