Hulu announced Wednesday that Roy Wood Jr. (The Daily Show) will tape his first comedy special for the streamer in early September at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C. The special will then air internationally on Hulu and Disney+.

The as-yet-untitled special follows three for Comedy Central: Imperfect Messenger (2021), No One Loves You (2019) and Father Figure (2017). A title and launch date will be announced at a later date. c. Craig will direct, with Mainstay Entertainment and Jax Media serving as producers. When the special premieres, it will be part of Hulu’s ramped-up comedy presence, which will feature monthly stand-up special launches.
A comedian, Emmy-nominated documentary producer and WGA-nominated writer, Wood Jr. is best known for his eight years as a correspondent for Comedy Central's Emmy-winning late-night satire The Daily Show. In 2023, he hosted the show and headlined the highest-rated White House Correspondents' Dinner since 2017.
Previously starring opposite Jon Hamm in Paramount Pictures’ Fletch remake Confess, Fletch, Wood Jr. has also made guest appearances on Only Murders in the Building, Better Call Saul, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. He will next appear opposite Keanu Reeves and Jonah Hill in the upcoming dark comedy Outcome, which Hill directs and executive produces for Apple TV+. He also recently teamed up with Crown Publishing to pen a memoir, The Man of Many Fathers, due out in 2025.
