Monologue by Ryan Gosling – SNL
Third time's the charm for Ryan Gosling, whose third stint as host of NBC's Saturday Night Live earned him his first Emmy nomination, for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. It comes on the heels of Gosling's third Oscar nomination for Barbie.
Gosling's Emmy-nominated performance as host of SNL on April 13 was a memorable one, featuring a third sketch, "Close Encounters," with former SNL cast member (and Gosling's Barbie co-star) Kate McKinnon, a Gosling-Emily Blunt "Barbenheimer" musical number set to Taylor Swift's "All Too Well," and the season's viral SNL sketch, "Beavis & Butt-Head," which has been viewed 17 million times on YouTube alone.
The success of that episode — and that "Beavis & Butthead" sketch, which featured Gosling and SNL cast member Mikey Day's impressive transformation into the beloved MTV characters — helped the venerable NBC sketch show nab multiple nominations for Gosling-hosted show, Directing for a Variety Program; Hair Styling for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program; Makeup for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program; and Music Direction.
