Remembering Robin Williams: Sally Field Reveals Heartwarming Moment From Mrs. Doubtfire Set
On the 10th anniversary of his death, Robin Williams' friends and colleagues told Vanity Fair that he always tried to make everyone laugh.
However, Williams had another side: his incredible empathy helped his Mrs. Doubtfire colleague Sally Field when she suffered a tragedy.
"I've never shared this story before," Field told Vanity Fair. "I was sitting in the RV outside the courtroom where we were shooting the divorce scene. My father had had a stroke a few years before and was in a nursing home. I got a call from the doctor saying my father had died, a massive stroke. He asked if I wanted them to put him in the resuscitation unit. I said, 'No, he didn't want to. Just let him go. And please lean over and say, 'Sally says goodbye.' I was, of course, completely distraught."
