As Saturday Night Live approaches its 50th anniversary, an upcoming film takes fans back in time to the making of the very first episode of the NBC comedy series.
SATURDAY NIGHT – Official Trailer (HD)
Saturday Night — directed by Jason Reitman and co-written by Reitman and Gil Kenan based on interviews with SNL alumni — will tell the story of what happened behind the scenes in the moments leading up to the show’s first airing on Oct. 11, 1975, according to a logline shared by Deadline. The film will capture “the chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t” as the clock counts down in real time, the logline adds.
The first trailer for the film (embedded above) was released on August 8, and features the fake Lorne Michaels and the show's inaugural cast racing to create a show that would change the history of television forever. The video is cheekily captioned, "They got 90 minutes to get their sh** together."
