“After a careful review of the case files, this Court denies the petition for review of the case,” reads the decision of the S.C. Third Division, written by Judge Samuel Gaerlan and announced April 8.
The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition of Rolando Zoleta, former Assistant Ombudsman for Luzon. Zoleta challenged the 2021 resolutions of the Court of Appeals upholding the 2018 rulings of the Office of the Ombudsman to dismiss him for grave misconduct, gross dishonesty and conduct prejudicial to the interests of the office.
The court stated that “this Court sustains the OMB and CA's decisions holding Zoleta administratively liable for serious misconduct, gross dishonesty, and conduct detrimental to the best interests of the Service.”
