Scott Peterson’s ex-girlfriend, Amber Frey, played a key role in putting him behind bars for the murder of his wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn child. Reports indicated that Peterson was having an affair with Frey and kept quiet about his marriage to her. During Peterson’s trial, she testified against the accused and helped the jury find him guilty of murder. Nearly two decades later, Frey will appear in the upcoming Netflix documentary series American Murder: Laci Peterson to discuss the case.
In December 2002, Scott Peterson filed a complaint saying that his wife, Laci Peterson, had been missing since Christmas Eve. Laci was eight months pregnant at the time, NBC News reported. The following month, a woman named Amber Frey told the media that she had been having an affair with Peterson. The outlet stated that Peterson had told Frey that his wife had died, even though she was still alive at the time. Then, in March 2003, police ruled Laci's disappearance a homicide investigation. Nearly a month later, authorities discovered the bodies of Laci and her unborn child.
