Recovering from failure
UPDATE: Amazon MGM has confirmed the addition of Scott Stuber. Find their release under Deadline's break on the story.
Earlier, 7:55 a.m. PT: Scott Stuber, former chairman of Netflix Film and vice chairman of Universal, is close to closing a deal to revive United Artists under the Amazon MGM banner, sources said.
Stuber left in January but stayed on to help with the transition that saw former Warner Bros. executive Dan Lin take over as film director at the streamer. Stuber was expected to launch his own company, with Deadline revealing that his first project would be Deliver Me From Nowhere , the Scott Cooper-directed film starring Emmy-winning The Bear's Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen. The film chronicles the singer's ascent from the depths of depression to write and record his breakthrough album Nebraska . 20th Century's David Greenbaum and Steve Ashbell have put the film in stiff competition, and Stuber is producing alongside Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Gotham Group's Eric Robinson.
