Shari Redstone recently fully supported CBS anchor Tony Dokoupil in an interview that his own network executives said did not meet editorial standards.

"I honestly think Tony did a great job with that interview. I think he handled himself well and showed the world a role model of what a decent debate is. He showed that there is accountability, that there is a system of checks and balances, and honestly I was very proud of the work that he did," Redstone said during her appearance at New York Advertising Week. She said she passed her thoughts on to Dokoupil.
As Redstone’s family-owned company, Paramount Global, enters a new era with Skydance, Redstone is increasingly focused on issues surrounding anti-Semitism, something she’s been involved with for years. She sat down for a Q&A with Matthew Segal, co-founder and co-CEO of ATTN, a social storytelling media company and content studio, to talk about the role content and civics education can play in fostering multicultural awareness.
However, Dokoupil took over much of the session after top CBS News executives told staffers Monday morning that a contentious interview between the CBS Mornings co-host and the author about Coates' book, which explores the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, did not meet the network's editorial standards.
