With a Co-Production Forum and a sold-out Spotlight on Incentives seminar to complement the pavilion and strong industry delegation, Spain will give industry attendees in Toronto a taste of what will happen on a much larger scale in September 2026 when the festival launches its official Content Market.
European Cinema, a Co-Production Opportunity from Spain – 2021
On September 6, the third edition of the Do It the Spanish Way! International Co-production Forum took place, bringing together five Spanish producers with feature films in various stages of development — and with partners and partial financing in place — to network with a mix of Canadian and international producers and distributors.
The morning program, which welcomed more than 75 attendees, began with an introduction and presentation of the seven features and then broke into lively one-on-one sessions. Each participating Spanish producer met with at least eight companies, Variety was told.
“It is a great opportunity for Spain to join forces with other countries, and more specifically with Canada, because we both have a lot of talent and the financial capacity,” said Araceli Pérez Rastrilla of La Vida, who is specifically interested in finding a co-production partner from French-speaking Canada for her company's female-led genre project “Strangers.”
