Paramount+ on Saturday announced the premiere date and teaser trailer for the fifth and final season of the hit animated comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 Comic-Con Teaser | 'The Final Season'
The season premieres on Paramount+ with two episodes on Thursday, October 24 in the U.S. and internationally. Following the premiere, new episodes of the 10-episode season will debut on the service every Thursday leading up to the series finale on Thursday, December 19.
Timed to the Star Trek Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con, which took place in Hall H, Paramount+ also unveiled a series of first-look stills from the new season, which you can check out above and below. The fact that this season of Lower Decks will be its last was met with loud boos from the audience. Representing the show in Hall H were cast members Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Jerry O’Connell, along with executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Mike McMahan.
In Season 5 of Lower Decks, the crew of the USS Cerritos is tasked with sealing “orbital holes” — subspace rifts causing chaos in the Alpha Quadrant. Sealing the holes would be easy for Jr. Officers Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, and Rutherford… if only they weren’t also dealing with an Orion War, angry Klingons, diplomatic disasters, murder mysteries, and scariest of all: their own career aspirations. The upcoming season on Paramount+ celebrates this underdog crew as they find themselves perilously close to being promoted out of the lower decks and into strange new Starfleet roles.
