The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recalibrated its fight against illegal drugs by targeting sources and supply chains instead of drug dealers on the streets, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil said.

Marbil said on Sunday (August 11) that the pivot aims to tackle the drug problem at its roots while minimizing the use of violence.
“Our previous strategies focused too much on cutting off heads, but we must focus on the body – the entire supply chain and the sources that drive the drug trade,” he said in a statement.
The recalibrated strategy will include intensified intelligence operations and stronger community engagement to identify and dismantle drug trafficking networks, he noted.
