Steve McQueen Receives Filmmaking Achievement Award at 4th Annual HCA Film Awards

British filmmaker Steve McQueen will be honored with the Outstanding Director Award for career achievement at this year's Camerimage Film Festival. The announcement was made this morning by the Polish festival.

“Steve McQueen is an artist known for his uncompromising commitment to addressing difficult social and political issues,” said Marek Żydowicz, director of the Camerimage Festival, this morning.

“His vibrant filmmaking style explores issues of racism, violence, addiction and inequality, continually provoking and challenging discussion, positioning him as one of the most important filmmakers working today. We could not imagine a better laureate for the Special Award for Outstanding Director than Steve McQueen.”
