The hit London play Stranger Things: The First Shadow is coming to Broadway: producers Netflix and Sonia Friedman Productions today announced that the production will begin premieres at the Marquis Theatre on Friday, March 28, 2025, with an official opening on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Stranger Things: The First Shadow is directed by Stephen Daldry (TV series The Crown, Broadway series The Inheritance) and co-directed by Justin Martin (Broadway series Prima Facie, The Inheritance). The film is based on an original story by the Duffer Brothers, Jack Thorne and Kate Trefry, written by Kate Trefry, and rooted in the mythology and world of the TV series.

Here’s the official synopsis: Before the World Turned Upside Down. Hawkins, 1959: It’s an ordinary town with ordinary worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister doesn’t take his radio show seriously, and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family discovers that starting over isn’t so easy…and the shadows of the past cast a shadow over their heads.
