Veteran TV news anchor Susan Zirinsky has recently set her sights on new frontiers.
Susan Zirinsky Named President of CBS News
The former president of CBS News and executive producer of “48 Hours” has since 2012 led See It New Studios, a Paramount Global production company that works on documentaries and unscripted series, some tied to true crime, others seeking to chronicle important historical events.
“The streaming world has given us a platform to really branch out and do things in a much more in-depth way. And we have a broad portfolio,” says Zirinsky, who notes that she could dream up projects for the CBS broadcast network, Paramount+ or even a platform owned by a rival. She was speaking one-on-one at “Truth Seekers,” an annual conference that spotlights documentary production and unscripted programming under the auspices of Variety and Rolling Stone and presented by Paramount+.
One of her latest projects is “We Will Dance Again,” a documentary that examines the October 7 Hamas terror attack on the international Nova Music Festival using footage recorded by victims on mobile devices, as well as eyewitness accounts. The film will first premiere in Los Angeles at Laemmle Encino for a week-long Oscar-qualifying run beginning August 23, prior to advanced event screenings on Friday, August 29 and Sunday, September 1 in select theaters nationwide. The See It Now Studios Original Documentary will launch exclusively in the U.S. on Paramount+ this fall.
