The president of the 2028 Summer Olympics is feeling the heat, and it's not from the giant torch that just arrived in Los Angeles from Paris.
Casey Wasserman faces professional fallout after tabloid scandal and Billie Eilish's departure
It’s been two weeks since a damning report on Casey Wasserman, grandson of famed Hollywood dealmaker Lew Wasserman, was released, accusing the talent agency owner of having “serial” affairs with junior employees over a period of years. The reported indiscretions – which Wasserman declined to comment on – put stars, political figures and industry insiders on edge as the Paris Games ended last weekend and LA took over. It has also shone a spotlight on his firm, which represents music moguls like Kendrick Lamar and Chappell Roan and athletes like Megan Rapinoe.
The first and most devastating for Wasserman is the loss of Billie Eilish, a superstar client who jumped ship on Tuesday. The “Birds of a Feather” singer and her brother Finneas are now represented by rival WME.
When Britain’s Daily Mail published its report on August 1 calling Wasserman a “serial cheater” — naming former and current employees with whom he’s accused of having sexual relationships — it called him the “mastermind” behind the careers of Eilish and bands like Coldplay. Eilish and her team were “shocked” to be named in the story, three top sources told Variety.
