Damien Leone on Making Terror 3 with a Studio and Hollywood Rules | Pt. 2
"After surviving Art the Clown's Halloween carnage, Sienna and her brother struggle to rebuild their shattered lives. As the holidays approach, they try to embrace the spirit of the season and leave the horrors of the past behind them. But just when they think they're safe, Art the Clown returns, determined to turn their holiday joy into a new nightmare. The holiday season quickly spirals out of control as Art unleashes his twisted brand of terror, proving that no holiday is safe," reads the synopsis for Terrifier 3.
Tyler Treese: Congratulations on Terrifier 3. You did it again. You disgusted me and made me laugh with joy the whole time. You really go for it with this film. Hurting children is a taboo subject for a lot of people, but I love that you're not afraid to do it. I love that in the film too, because it just shows that no one is safe. If we're not going to be provocative, why are we making art? But I'd love to hear your perspective on that and why you're willing to go to places where some people would just shy away and say, "No way."
Damien Leone: Yeah, man, it has to be genuine. It can’t be unfair to the character of Art the Clown. When I decided to make it a Christmas movie, it was a children’s holiday and he’s definitely going to be around a lot of children. When I wrote this character, when I created him, I created the most disgusting, sadistic character I could ever imagine. To me, it would just be unfair that he wouldn’t hurt a child. It just doesn’t make sense. He doesn’t have any code that he lives by. He doesn’t have any boundaries that he won’t cross.
