Lestat & Louis coffin quickie – Interview with the Vampire S1 E4
Congratulations to everyone who's about to watch AMC's Interview With the Vampire for the first time. Season 1 of the critically acclaimed drama debuted on Netflix on Monday, August 19, along with a collection of 12 other binge-worthy AMC series , and we have a feeling it won't be long before the word spreads about this spectacular, once-in-a-lifetime kind of show and it attracts the massive audience it deserves.
Interview With the Vampire has been called the “best show no one watches” since its release in 2022. TV Insider, however, is not one of those “no one”s. We’ve been obsessed with it since day one. (Did you know the fandom’s celebrity name for its stars, “Jam Reiderson,” comes from one of our interviews?) Welcome, all newcomers. You’re about to experience one of the best stories TV has to offer today (the story continues in Season 3 when they adapt the novel The Vampire Lestat for a film). It’s a true symphony of excellence from start to finish, featuring the best work of its stars from all of its stars.
If you loved the 1994 film, don’t expect an exact reconstruction. Showrunner Rolin Jones has made narrative changes that better align with the book’s story and offer an engaging new approach, while retaining the essence of Anne Rice’s beloved novel, such as changing the time period and making Louis a black Creole man instead of a white plantation owner. Most importantly, it finally puts Louis and Lestat’s love story front and center, as it did in Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles series.
