“The Acolyte” will not return for Season 2.

Lucasfilm has opted not to continue the Disney+ series “Star Wars” after its first season, which depicted the rise of the Sith approximately 100 years before the events of “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.”

The news came as a shock, considering the Season 1 finale largely ended on a cliffhanger and several storylines for a Season 2 had already been announced. It also wasn't much of a surprise, considering the mixed reception from fans and the lackluster ratings that seemed to be declining after the series premiered in June.
