In Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut, paradise isn't quite what it seems.
At the beginning of “Blink Twice,” roommates and cocktail waitresses Frida (Naomi Ackie) and Jess (Alia Shawkat) are working a party for Slater King, a charming, handsome, vaping billionaire and tech CEO played by Channing Tatum.
Frida is enchanted by Slater and by the end of the evening she and Jess are invited to go on vacation to his private island. Slater has been keeping a low profile lately, while Frida watches an interview in which he apologizes for some vague past misbehavior. He swears he’ll do better, blah blah blah. Frida doesn’t seem to care. She’s too busy working on her “anailmals,” her animal-themed fingernail art.
