Things are looking good for The Collector 3, as director Marcus Dunstan has confirmed that the "legal entanglements" surrounding the film franchise have now been resolved, allowing the third installment to continue years after it was originally announced.
Originally created as a spin-off to the Saw film series, the supposed John Kramer origin story became a standalone film in 2009, starring Josh Stewart. The film continued in 2012 with The Collection. While the next chapter, titled The Collected, was on hold despite having already begun filming, Dunstan confirmed that it is now finally "free" and that fans can expect the third installment to be "crazy scary."
"If anyone wanted to know what was going on with The Collector, less than 24 hours ago, after five years of legal wrangling, The Collector is free. The Collector is coming back and it's going to be scary… just wait until you see that sucker hit. It's been five years, man. Seriously, five years ago I was packing up Atlanta for our first attempt at making a third one," Dunstan told ComicBook.
