Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte has filed a bill to provide discounts and tax exemptions to juniors or persons aged 0 to 12 years, similar to the discounts and tax exemptions enjoyed by seniors.

In Bill 8312, Villafuerte stressed the importance of providing assistance to children beyond the first 1,000 days of their lives, which is currently covered by existing legislation.
“Government support for its young citizens is of utmost importance, especially during their formative years, so that they can grow up to be fully equipped adult citizens,” Villafuerte said in the bill’s explanatory memorandum.
Under this measure, all children aged 0 to 12 years, regardless of income, will automatically become members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).
