Prime Video has released the official trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2, the next installment in Amazon MGM Studios' epic fantasy drama. The video gives fans a glimpse at what to expect from the upcoming season as the titular heroes deal with the coming of Sauron.

"In Season Two, Sauron is back. Cast out by Galadriel, without an army or an ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, with the potential to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will," the synopsis reads. "Building on the epic scope and ambition of Season One, the new season plunges even the most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, as each must find their place in a world increasingly on the brink of disaster. As friendships are tested and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good – Elves and Dwarves, Orcs and Men, Wizards and Harfoots – will struggle ever more bravely to hold on to what matters most to them: each other."

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on August 29.
